Just remember, "Slow as I can, fast as I must." If you are not spinning the tires, it is highly unlikely that you are going to break your axle.

I have the six speed and went to 4.56 gears. The pinion is smaller in the Dana 30 then the 44 and going to a higher numerical ratio than 4.56 gets the pinion very small in the 30. The pinion becomes the weak link instead of the axle knuckle.
I would actually advise against getting chromoly axle shafts, especially if you are installing lower gears in that front Dana 30. By reinforcing the shafts, you are making the already small gears the weak link in the chain. I'd much rather break a u-joint or shaft than break the ring and pinion on the trail.

I agree 4.56 to 4.88 and that said the 4.56 is your best bet on the d30

I also have a 4 door with 35's and a D30. Just returned from Moab and the only thing I tore up was that pu**y excuse for a front driveline I was given by Chrysler. That was probably too much flex however. Get your 35's, get your gears and take it easy on the gas. You'll be fine..
