I REALLY need some help !
At this point, I don't know what to do!!
Now I have to change my tires, I'm running 33's, but I want to go for 35's... I have the stock gears (3.73) on my 2 door sahara (it's automatic), right now I'm very happy with the results, plus I have the airaid intake, magnaflow catback and Jet chip... I want the 35's... BUT I don't want to regret... I don't want to break anything, it's my daily driver and I wheel 2 or 3 times a month...
I'm planning to regear in the future (4.88 or 5.13)... but not right now
Some people said... "Go for the 35's", some other said... "Are you nuts!? you are going to blow your front Dana 30"
What should I do???
Somebody help me!!

If you had a 6 Speed you would be somewhat ok but with you having the auto your going to loose a lot of power, especially for a daily driver. I have 4.10's and I noticed a BIG difference. Sorry, but I would recommend holding off till you can get it re-geared to 5.13's or 5.38's.

You'll lose power and the transmission will have to "hunt" for the right gear when going up hills or in a strong headwind. It's annoying. But running 35's won't magically blow up your Dana 30. It's my DD, I've been wheeling hard with 35's for about a year, and my front axle is fine. I've hit whoops hard enough to crumple my shocks and the axle survived unscathed.
I'd say go for it. What you'll miss in freeway power will be made up for in the huge improvement offroad.

you will lose power being an auto with those gears, but if you are even thinking of getting 35's you should get them, you wont be happy otherwise. If you arn't wheeling like crazy, and only going out a couple times a month you should be fine with the D30. A buddy of mine wheels his really hard and its a sahara as well, hasn't had any issues, but then freak things can happen. I'd say go for it, but until you re-gear the power might not be the best....not that it ever was!

I don't know that re gearing will make the D30 any stronger.. I think ( someone please correct me if I'm wrong) your D30 can become a problem not matter what gearing you have if your running 35's and wheeling it. The size of the axle remains the same. Not to say it is not done by many on here.
As for re gearing, from what I've read the 373 will feel sluggish and under powered with 35's especially in and auto. But I'm sure plenty have upgraded the tires first and re geared later. Hope that helps.

Check out this thread I started, it basically covers your whole question: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-show-tell-33/who-has-snapped-d30-95573/
evolution says some good stuff on it. Basically, it may break at the U-joint, but the d44 breaks there as well. If you are even thinking about it, GET THE 35's

And, again, the axle should hold up fine to 35's unless your stupid. (Which I have been and mine's still fine).
I would definitely advise getting the ORE C2 gussets to prevent your axle c's from bending.

Regearing will actually make the axle (as a whole system) weaker, as the ring and pinion will be so small, with 5.13s for example having only about 1 1/8 tooths contacting at a time.
