I voted for the nittos. I run the 37x12.50x17 on mine, and I love them!!!

Can't speak for the Nittos but I hate Toyo M/T's. I had a set on my TJ and they suck off road. They were only C rated but the sidewalls didn't flex even aired down to 10PSI. I'll never own a set again, I only do rock crawling and they just didn't perform well for me at all.

so suonds like its a toss up on the quality of the tire...does that include sound of the tire? I am also looking at these two tires but want the quietest on road if all other factors are about equal between the two

looking at them both myself for when I up to 37's but the main concern I saw with the Toyo's was the weight. Heavy ass tire but damn nice overall.

Originally I was thinking Nitto, but I am starting to think Toyo would be good also. This is a great thread, I think the top two tires on the market right now.

Running the Toyo Open Country tires and love them for rock crawling. They are heavy but we haven't cut through a side wall...that said I'd like to give the Nittos a try next go round but won't see much weight savings.

I have had them both in the past, my vote is for the Toyo MT's now , I just bought a new set last week in fact, just remember to rotate them every 3k for the best mileage.

I could have gone with either and chose Nitto.

My reasoning:
Nitto is a "D" rated tire (less stiff ride, better results from airing down)
Nitto is 1" Narrower (didn't have to adjust steering stop)

Disadvantages:
Nitto is a "D" rated tire (less sidewall)
Nitto is 1" Narrower (smaller footprint)

SO... just depends on your goals.
