I started hearing a popping sound from my rear when I drove over speed bumps or out of my driveway. I went by my dealer to give a quick look and they said that my spring on the rear drivers side is out of the top perch, so I got under my jeep and snapped a pic. Can anyone tell me how this could happen as I have only been off road once almost two tears ago when I first got it. I have the AEV3.5" dual sport which is basically just springs, shocks and brackets so, I don't understand how this could have happened, since the perches weren't welded in and in basically has stock geometry .

what shocks did you get with there kit? The main way i would see it falling out would be from flexing or jacking the rear end up all the way with the axle on the ground. But you would have to have long enough shocks to unseat them....

id bet bilsteins have some length shocks that would make a coil fall out, but youve never had the problem offroading? Did you or anyone work on the jeep lately where it might have been lifted by the frame? The shocks that came with the kit "shouldnt" give you a problem though.

I had the jeep in for a recall on the trans cooler line but, I'm not sure if they had to lift the jeep to swap out the lines

Did it happen after that? They may have, probably wouldnt need to though. If it happened there I would assume it would happen offroading when the rear is fully flexed out though. Happen to know the extended length of your rear shocks?

I didn't start hearing it until after that. I have only had it off road once two years ago on some trails

thatd be my guess then honestly. Its not a big deal as long as it gets seated back in. Id just check it after offroading or after anyone jacks it up. Looks like it barely came unseated so thats a plus. Usually when mine used to come unseated they would completely fall out or turn sideways.
