I know a Snorkel is not suppose to improve...
gas mileage but I am seeing a difference. So, before I installed my snorkel I was getting about 16.6 mpg... at least that is what the computer said. I know the accuracy of the computer is in question, but it has been pretty consistent for the past 3 months. So, if it is wrong... it is consistently wrong.
Anyway back to my topic. I installed the AEV snorkel with the RAM air a day after xmas. Initially, the computer mpg was reading around 16.4. Overtime the number has gone up. Right now it is at 17.4 mpg. I usually have the display on my temp/direction setting and don't pay attention to the mpg and I am not the only one driving my jeep. My wife drives it as well so I don't think it's me being light footed.
I never actually did a test before the snorkel to calculate the mpg so I don't have a base. My question is based on this info, do you folks think I am actually seeing an improvement in my gas mileage or is it something else? Has anyone else seen this on their computer? Has anyone calculated the mpg before and after the install?

IIf you have your speedo adjusted for your tire size, I would suggest corroborating your gage readings with what the pump says. My X does have the dash read out for mileage (stupidest thing to leave out on a base model ever), so I do mine by clearing the trip meater when I fill up. And then when I get gas again, fill up all the way. And then just do the math.
I also use fuelly.com to keep track of all my mileage since I first bought the Jeep. Its nice to have the records.
But I am thinkings its just a coincidence that your mileage has gone up.
