Default Hydrolock in Charlotte, NC - Hemi?

So I might have hydro locked my JKU today in some nasty storms we got. I have a feeling that my engine might be shot, so here is my question. Does anybody know if there is a shop in the Charlotte area of NC that could do a Hemi swap? If it is somewhere close to the cost to put that in I might just pull the trigger and do it. Any feedback on a shop or hydro lock would be cool. Thx.

Do your research on the hemi swap- people get overheating and the computers don't play well together. The LS route is the way to go.

How long did you drive it after ingesting the water? It may be salvageable if you cut it off quickly. Did you pull the plugs and drain the oil?

No, it got about 30 yards and now has been towed to the dealership. It could be as minor as a sensor or something electrical, but if its a big problem I'd like to have my ducks in a row.

If its not salvageable....well then I suppose that's what insurance is for. That's why I want to find someone local who can do a Hemi swap...if the cost is close I can take the insurance check and just do that.

The cost isn't close haha. Have you looked at the kits aev sells? Then you've got to buy the correct hemi for your kit. Your new motor shouldn't exceed $4k.....even at the dealer.

Yea, AEV has some nice stuff but there are other shops out there as well that im trying to find. Ive seen a few times on these forums that there are cheaper options especially if you use a used hemi.

$4k seems low- my last Chrysler needed a new engine and the cheapest for a used was $6k. Even if it is only $4k for a new 3.8 if I can find a shop near me to put a hemi or ls in this would be the best time to do it. Basically itd be $4k off then.

Bro do the hemi swap!! I did it and paid $11,500.00 and that was engine, tranny, parts needed for the swap (AEV conversion kit and other small parts), labor (I had a local shop in Texas do the swap) and I was able to throw in an AEV snorkel kit. So minus the snorkel kit I paid about $10,500.00 for everything. It's a worthwhile investment and I haven't had any issues whatsoever with my hemi or the install.

Wish I could, turns out my engine will be fine. Never thought I'd be sad to hear that.

So set up the scenario for us, you hit a big puddle or drove down into something and it just got too deep? If you check my link below you'll see the depth of water that I hit and came out unscathed. The JK is pretty good in water IMO......though I was probably on the fringe of life and death there.
