Default How much should I save for a prorock44

After reading a bunch of threads on this forum about upgrade d30 vs buy a new 44 I have decided the only upgrade I am going to do my d30 is gussets... sleeves aren't worth the intallation cost IMHO.

I don't really wheel that hard so I doubt it will ever come to this but on the off chance I actually break my d30 how much would I be looking at to get a prorock 44?

I know it all greatly depends on what options I got, but I am not sure what parts can be reused from my dana 30 and what parts will have to be new. If this ever happens I would probably get a trutrack up front and maybe regear to 4.1 or 4.56 but I can't see myself going any higher (numerically) than that.

So how much should I keep in the bank incase of a d30 failure? $3k, $4k, $5k?

My guess is closer to the 5k mark.

Been shopping around for one, and the best price I've been able to find on one is through northridge4x4. And with gears, rcv shafts, no locker, ball joints, and a 1310 yoke I'm right around 4k. But like you I dont know what exactly can be rebolted to the new PR44 from the stock 30.

From my forum research I think we can reuse the steering knuckles and the Prorock44 comes with ball joints you just pay extra to upgrade them. Also I think the brakes and all that stuff can be swapped over.

its looking like axle housing + ring and pinion + carrier + locker + axle shafts? what else?

Just did that swap on mine back in February and all you can re-use off the factory is the outer knuckles and the brakes. Runnin open diff your sittin right around 4K and if I did it again I'd try to swing the locker, I am bummed still that I couldn't swing the extra at the time. Talk to Dave at Northridge they do good things and customer service is outstanding

I'm happy you guys are so pleased with your PR44 axles and the dealer service.

I'm sure scott would also be able to quote you a price. So you know a ballpark estimate of what you will be looking to spend.

That's true and appreciate the sponsors stepping up and offering I just figured I would post rather than troll the vendors since I am not actually in the market for the product for a few years
