Default how much lift when going to 18" wheels & 35" tires?

I have a 08 Rubicon UNlimited. I was thinking about going to 35's in the future.
People tell me that I would need a 2.5" lift. And that I will need wheel spacers if I keep my stock wheels. If I don't want wheel spacers I would have to buy new wheels. But if I am going to buy new wheels, I would just go to 18" inch wheels and put 35" tires on them. Is that still a 2.5" lift if I go to 18" wheels & 35" tires?

Anything 2.5" up to 4" will fit a 35" tire. If you are going for a 18" rim, don't be surprised when you screw them up going wheeling. There is not that much rubber between a rock and the rim when you air down. I have 15" rims and still took a little damage when I was wheeling. Just my.

35" tires for 15s or 16s will be much cheaper than those for 18s. Don't ask me why.

It is all about supply and demand. More people go for the 15s so they make a lot more and the result is a cheaper price.
