You just tore up the ears on the stub and lost a cap. If you have a 35 or 36mm socket and a 12pt 13mm wrench you can pull the axle shaft and drive it.

if you do decide to pull the shaft use a hammer and socket to knock the u-joint out of the other side of the stub shaft then put the stub shaft back in the jeep to keep the bearing from separating. Also stuff a rag or something in the axle tube to keep debris out and fluid in.

If you pull the axle there is nothing keeping the fluid inside your diff.

You could pull the stubby end and tie off the inner axle to the axle C with wire which will keep it from moving and sliding out.

If you are 2 wheel drive this will be safe assuming you dont have a locker in the front

The inner axle seals will hold in most of the fluid. If you stuff a rag in there it will hold in the rest.

If you keep the inner in place what keeps the ears on the turning outer from hitting the ears on the inner? If you pull the outer what keeps the bearing together?

I drove mine for over a week with no front inner shaft and it was fine.

A while, stuff a rag in the axle. I drove probably 300 miles on/off trail on the JKX like this. Did two trails in 2WD low locked as well.

RCV's.
