No it does not. Easy way to steal it is to undo the quick connects and undo the Allen bolt set screw. But you would have to have the right Allen wrench on you at the time to steal it.

I looked into the Or Fab unit, very nice. However you have to permanently modify the jeeps body to use it, and you can't open the tailgate easily, without first undoing the tire carrier, then the normal latch.

Just my opinion. I'm happy with the teraflex tire carrier so far, but it's only been a week or two.

I think I'm going to modify my olympic mount for a bike rack, and add the rotopax's to it as well. I just need the time to do it now!

The Teraflex hinge is great but pretty expensive for what it is.

I got an OR-FAB tire carrier that came with 2 3 gallon Rotopax gas cans that fit in between the jeep and the tire. It has a completely separate hinge system so there is now ZERO weight on the actual tail gate.

The Teraflex hinge still uses the stock carrier right? Just beefs up the hinge?

The stock carrier will break...
Trust me...

Backed into a very small tree going slow. 35 inch tire twisted right off...

This is what it looks like only with rotopax cans. I haven't taken pictures of mine yet.

You can also put a hilift/shovel on it and it has a spot for a CB antennae or flag. I really like it.

Sorry if this isn't what you wanted but I just found it to be cheaper and a better option than the Teraflex. I do have a Teraflex lift and love it though. So I don't mean to bash on their products.
Teraflex also makes an adjustable wheel holder, I believe.

The main problem with the RotoPaX tire carrier is that in order to change a flat you have to pull 2 quick disco pins and release the allen bolt set screw all in a tight space the size of your fist. This is not my idea of a good time

Here are the pics of what I'm talking about

Thanks, it's an OSI spare tire mount '3 bike rack'. You can find the actual product on SurcoInc.com from there I'm sure you can find a seller.

I will warn you, when I went to the larger offset wheel, I had to modify the mount plate. The mount plate sandwhiches behind the spare and pokes through the hole in the wheel. The mount then has a square tube of steel that is threaded in the end welded to it. There is a long screw that goes through the bike rack and screws in to the mount to secure it on, that's it one big ole screw. The larger offset tire required that I cut the mounts square tube in half and weld in an extension piece to reach out far enough. Surco also offers a longer screw for this situation, but I wanted the square tubes on the bike rack and mount to index each other for stability from spinning and the longer screw wasn't enough of a solution for me as the tubes didn't even reach each other.

Great point. But for $60 what do you expect. If I wanted to spend 10 times that, I could get the Teraflex HD hinge and spare tire carrier, but then I'd have to but the wheel spacer and the accessory bracket. That's a lot of dough for emergency fuel, which I'd only use if I knew I was going in an area where gas was sparse
