Default How many miles do you have on your heim joints?

Seen a thread claiming heim joints are wearing out fast when used in steering. I searched around and haven't found any information on how many miles people are getting out of their heim joints and what brand they are using. Please share how many miles and what bran joint your using.

The standard off-the-shelf joints you can buy from places like Ruff Stuff, are not designed for long-term where, especially in steering. The target market is people who race. They'll beat the crap out of them for a race or two and then replace them.

There are quality heim joints, but you have to pay up. If you want some that won't wear out and are just plain bad a##, these are it: Welcome to the Genuine Bullet Proof Steering System Solution!. You can't buy a better heim joint. Government contract stuff. Call the guy and ask him to compare and contrast spherical joints.

Im rocking plain jane rod ends on 40s with no problems yet. Not a ton of miles but holding up fine. I just carry spares. I know alot of my racing buddies would pull the bolt and if the sphere spun easily theyd replace. When using heims id highly recommend safety washers. Ive only ever broke one rod end and it was a stupid error on my part. Have bent a few when testing strength between the sizes.

Do you have any idea how many miles you have put on them?

My new ones are under 5k and fine. My older one on my last axles id say were around 10k. Probably a 50/50 split of road and wheeling. They are still fine and others were when i removed. I dont expect as much mileage as a tre or but i still believe they will hold up well. The salt and weather here will really be a test this year as before i was in new mexico and am now back in Wisconsin
