Default How to install a kill switch in a 2012 or newer?

Does anyone have a wiring schematic on how to wire a kill switch to the ignition or clutch switch? Jeeps are being stolen left and right from my area.

Crush '12 JK 2 door, 3.5 metal cloak, FOX, 5.13, and roll'in 37's.... killin it in WV mountains!

I wired a switch into the ground wire for my fuel pump. I don't have a diagram but basically you just interupt the the ground wire.

Theft deterrent.



On a more serious note I am looking to installing a simple start interrupt in my 2012 JK, I am dumb enough to shoot someone for trying to steal my Jeep so I guess I should make it harder to steal.

one thing that helps if you have the ability to lock your hood, a battery disconnect. I use the 'turn knob' style that hooks up directly to the battery Click image for larger version

With chipped keys, everything I've read is that it isn't needed. I've put immobilizers in all my vehicles and was prepared to do the same with my Jeep until I read about the chipped key being enough on the forums.

I did, however, add a flashing LED to the dash to discourage kids who don't know about the chipped key.

My thoughts exactly. If they're gonna steal it, they're gonna use a flat-bed to haul it. I'd rather keep the battery connected so at least the vehicle alarm will trigger and the Mopar hood lock I have will buy me enough time so I can hear it go off....

The immobilizer is its own kill switch. It cuts off the ignition, and maybe even the fuel.

Have thieves figured out a way to fool the immobilizer?

Not the one I installed in my T/A. I used a reed switch and magnet in the key fob.

I was going to do the same setup in my JK but with chipped keys, not necessary. At least from what I've read.

Unfortunately, in the last 2 months I've had two friends loose their jeeps because a duplicate was made from a dealer. The chip is great if their not using a copy. All they do is take a pic of your Vin and bam, one phone call and a key is made for your ride. I rather add a kill switch and not a battery disruption under the hood. I rather be able to flip a switch instead of un latching my hood in snow to start my car.
