Would it help on a short arm kit? I actually was wondering why I didn't hear much about people trimming the skid....

you don't hear much about it anymore because it doesn't work. way back when the JK first came out, there were some companies who went so far as to offer drop kits which is actually a better solution than trimming but, time showed that people STILL tore their boots and started peeling at the lip of the tranny pan. regarding short arms, this problem would be amplified as your axle would have a greater swipe when flexing than would a long arm.

Speaking of axles, how do you like the new rear and have you been able to wheel a little bit since SEMA?

are you asking about the full-float pro rock 60? if so, everything still feels and rides the same so everything is great. the real test will come on the trail and unfortuantely, we have not had a chance to take moby out since sema. being gone a week like leave you digging out for a while
