Default How to find out what gear ratio I have?

Im sure its been posted on here but cannot find it. I bought my 2007 unlimited 4dr with a 2.5 lift and 35 tires but I have no idea what gear ratio I have. Is there anyway to find out by vin or codes on dana's.

Jack up rear end. Put Jeep in neutral. Turn one of the rear wheels while looking at the drive shaft. Count the number of turns for the drive shaft for every turn of rear wheel.

If DS turns slightly over 3 turns, then you have 3.21

If DS turns nearly 4 turns, then you have 3.73

If DS turns slightly more than 4 turns, then you have 4.10

If you have the factory tow package and a D44 rear, then you prob have 4.10s.

You can also give your VIN to the dealer and ask for a build sheet. This will tell you every part that is on your jeep !

I almost positive on this. Any 07 JK has 4:10 gearing. All my friends that have 07 JK all have 4:10s and one is a X and the other one is a Sahara and both have 4:10 gears.

You could also add the 4.10 gears as a factory option (even without the tow pkg), and the 4.10s came with the autos (and Rubi's, of course).

Default gearing

Another way to check, if you look on the internet you can find charts that will show your RPM vs. Speed at 1:1 (auto in drive OD off)
