Default How do you protect the interior of the tailgate?

Just noticed that I scratched the interior of the tailgate with the snowboards/skis...

Any idea/advice/trick/whatsoever on how to protect it?

A few guys I know run the Smittybilt tailgate cover and love it. Provides protection, added storage, and looks bad ass.
