How can we protect the windshield? (I have an idea)
Shattered the windshield, or exposure to sand grains bothered me, there are many friends complain about this thing.
So I thought of the possibility of protecting the windshield in a different way.
Perhaps this method is very old, but I did not find any person who has already tried.
Some friends advised me to install the protection film on the windshield, but the film that protects from dust and small pebbles only.
So I thought in the following:
First, Installation Clear acrylic sheets on the windshield. Clear acrylic sheets are an economical alternative to polycarbonate (PC), It is often preferred because of its moderate properties, easy handling and processing, and low cost.
Second, Installation is using the (Un-Magic Tape). This makes us to remove the board and re-installed if necessary.
I'm going today to buy the board and the necessary materials and modification to fit with the windshield and installed on my JK U 2011, Then I'm going to upload images .. For interest.

I hate to dampen your enthusiasm....... Clear acrylic will scratch and haze very quickly, either from sand and dust scratches or from the use of the windshield wipers when scraping off bugs and cr+p. A single grain of sand will become a scouring pad.
I used to help build custom cars with roof chops and the budget answer to a new lower windshield would be to use clear acrylic (instead of expensive and specialist cut auto safety glass) but acrylic is illegal, only glass allowed. Any material is allowed for side windows.
If you're applying the acrylic over the existing glass windshield I presume would be ok from a state inspection legality, but be sure to cut-to-size numerous sheets and have to replace them regularly.

The work will be ready within a few hours.
On the acrylic material that will tend to yellow, this is true. But this requires quite some time.
In addition to the cost of this idea is only $ 45

I used to road race and we looked into them to save the windshields, won't yellow, wipers wont scratch the film. We didn't use them as one of the sponsors was a glass shop and committed to keeping us supplied with good windshields.
They make tear offs for NASCAR as well a other items.

But protection from dust and sand sculpture and small gravel, I do not think it's good and through my experience of a simple to use.
