I typically refrain, but now I can't. Why did you buy a Jeep? A SQUARE vehicle, which gets lower than average mpg. Compared to many true SUVs, the Wrangler isn't bad. Even lifted, I get 14 around town and about 18 on the highway. With that said, our Volvo xc90 gets 18 around town and 23 on the highway. Get a Volvo. LOO!!!

My father in law says " That jeep must be terrible on fuel ". I say its not to bad it gets 15 on a good day.

But then I say how about your v8 silverado. That thing only get 12 on a good day and worse when in town driving. He shuts up

The ABSOLUTE BEST practice I've found to increase my gas mileage is too leave the sucker parked in the garage until I need to use it.

I get right up on 18 wheelers and then I throw a grapple hook . With freedom panels off of course ! Then when I'm hooked to the big rig I put the jeep t case and transmission in N . Then I sit back and save some gas . Careful though its tricky !!( But I got mad skills ) ps this works on the 3.8 as well . JK cheers man and good luck saving gas . If u do let us all know

first off tell us about your jeep. 2dr 4dr auto stick rubi sport 3.21,3.73, 4.10 etc. If you are getting less then 17mpg around town and less then 20mpg on highway under 75mph then you just might have a problem if it is a stock jeep. Now if you are getting 22-23mpg probably not much you can do to get better mpg other then coasting down hill all the time.

I'm only looking for better economy so I can save some money from daily driving for more toys for it! I want better economy, but this is now my 4th vehicle in the jeep family and I wouldn't drive anything else, shoot me if I'm ever forced to drive a Prius! I have a 4 door with the 3.6/auto. I am getting about 21mpg.

21mpgs?. That's pretty good, I'm only averaging 13.5mpgs to the tank but I'm also running on 37's

I get 15 on a good day! If I could get 20 I would be jumping for joy! I was only getting about 12.5 then I added a super chip and it helped alot, I do have a 3.8 with 35s and 2 in lift . If the chip helped me that much it might help you to

taking the top and doors off would save quite a bit of weight which would help around town driving...

After reading this post I don't feel so bad about installing the HEMI and only getting 11.5 to 13 in the city and 13.5 to 15 on the highway. Although I do miss my 15-19 mpg that I use to get with the 3.8L, that is until I press on the skinny pedal and feel the rush. Live life with no regrets, hell it's a jeep for CHRIST sakes....lol.
