how about this cheap upgrade?
I heard one jeeper said:
install the best tire you can afford
keep the body as low as possible
SO I was thinkg about this upgrade from my stock JK (6sp, 3.73 gear ratio, DAN30/DANA44, rear limited slip differential, 30 inch tire)
remove stock fender flare
put on xeon fender flare to get more tire clearance
replace stock 30 inch tire by 33 inch tire.
Will this work? The cool thing about it is there is no suspension/drive train upgrade
so the warranty provided by Chrysler will still be valid.

Save $300 or whatever and cut your stock flares up. I didn't think you can get 30"s stock, steel wheels? Just because it's a 33" tire doesn't make it great. Really depends on which tire/wheelin' you plan on going with.

A few fender chop threads, if you're interested in going that route.

And one for sahara's

Bigger tires put more stress on the drivetrain. Talk to you dealer instead of assuming everything will still be covered. (they may only be 1" taller than the rubi/opt sahara tires, but that's 3" taller than the tires your JK left the factory with. Same as every other mod we do, some dealers are happy to work with you, but others will fight over any and everything...)

You really wanna see what can be done and remain CLOSE to stock suspension wise? Do a search for Planman and check out his ride. He has 37s on a Teraflex 2.5" coil lift with a 1" body lift. I know that's not what you want, but you might get some ideas. It's amazing how he went about putting that big a tire on a Jeep that's really not modded all to hell. He did a really nice job.

Total investment in the lift is about $300. Wheels & Tires cost the $$$
