Hood Vents
Has anyone added vents to their hood? It seems this would improve airflow for increased cooling and reduce or eliminate the dreaded hood lift, since incoming air would have an escape.
I had drilled six 3" holes in my XJ (three per side in a line) and covered them with two reversed hood scoops for protection from the elements. This made an amazing difference in on & off road temps.
Your thoughts how this would work an a JK?

These things run hotter'n hell from the git-go. Then add on some skids which traps even more heat in, hit a 10,000 foot mountain pass trying to keep up with traffic while carrying a boatload of gear and well.... I have a transmission cooler half hooked up and a set of Gen-Right hood louvers sitting in the garage waiting for me to get caught up on some other projects. There'll be picts when it's done.
Of course instead of cutting holes for louvers, you could spring the $750 for an AEV hood.

No, I just like spending time in the Pine Barrens, The actual town of Downingtown was built on a dried up lake bed and does flood every now and again

It was an absolute must with the AiROCK system IMO -- way too much heat under the hood before the vents. MUCH improved in heat reduction, as it no longer vaporizes the oil in the York compressor.
I never installed rain diverters either as I figured it was a waste of time for little concern... and haven't had a problem to this day.
I say go for it, save the $700 on the AEV hood, and add a true custom mod. Happy cutting!
