I live in the windy city of OKC as well! I have had the Daystar latches for about a year now and they are still holding great! Hood doesn't move at all. I highly recommend and if I remember correctly they where only like $20!

I paid $25 out the door for my Daystars yesterday and it took all of 5 minutes to install them. I grabbed the head of the stock pins with my pliers and pulled the caps off. They were very tight but I had zero hood flutter and was running 85MPH on the way to work this morning.

quick fix, go zip ties.

Go Daystar if you're okay with spending a few extra dollars, looking stock, and never having to mess with the issue again.

I'm not sure why taking the spring out would stop the fluttering of the hood

I thought it sounded weird as well. Then I tried it, since it is in fact free to do. The only times i get hood flutter is when I am on a one lane highway going about 70 mph and a semi in the next lane goes by about the same speed. Other than that, up to about 80 mph, which is about as fast as my JK can go, absolutely zero hood flutter, and for zero dollars. You really can't beat that. If i had an extra Benjamin to fritter away though, i would definitely go for the Drake Billet Hold Downs
