Homemade Swing out Tire Carrier on Stock Bumper?
Is it possible to make one? I dont get my JK for another 2 months so I have not looked at how robust they are and if you could take a holesaw, do a bit of welding and weld some sort of rotating hub onto the stock bumper (without melting the plastic??) and put a swing out onto it? Additional reinforcement brackets could be made and hidden so that the stock look remains? This may be a good option for those who want to save a buck or two or for those who like their stock bumpers? Input?

It may be possible, but it would take some ingenuity. There is no substantial support inside of the bumper except the rear frame crossmember. If you want to do something to cut costs you may look at the Rancho setup. It doesnt keep the bumper, but it is really affordable.

I think in this case will be better choose one aftermarket carrier. All people that made that manufactures had “walked the same way” before us and at the end it could be less expensive.
If you like stock bumpers you could choose Or-Fab Tire carrier, with can carrier like me or without can carrier.
