Default Homemade Sun Shade question - Dimensions needed

So I have driven to work a few days in a row now in the sun, and my one side sun burn isn't so cool looking.

I was contemplating dropping 70 - 100 bucks on an off the shelf solution for the evil Texas sun, but decided I could save a LOT of money building my own.

I'm going to buy black grommets, and some sun shade from a company that sells stuff like this for $0.94/sq ft:

Does anyone who currently has one of these sun shades feel like breaking the tape measure out and giving me the dimensions? figured if I can get dimensions in time, maybe I can save some skin this summer.

Let me look up my old write up. I made one last fall and it has worked spectacular. I got all my gear from Home Depot.

Can't find the write up, but did find the photos. Basically I used 1 roll. I don't have any pictures of it installed right now, When I head back home next week I'll throw it on since it's getting warmer outside.

I cut 1 roll of this: Click image for larger version

ID:	296237 , I didn't cut any off the sides and there's no sun line coming from either side. I did however cut it to 72" in the rear. It hangs down about 4" for me below my rear roll bar, just like I want. I used all the grommets, 2 boxes I believe Click image for larger version

I also painted my orange balls black, much nicer that way. Click image for larger version

I paid ~$40 I believe since I already had the grommet tool. I spend an afternoon doing it.

that is awesome info. I have one call in to a vendor that sells windscreen type stuff, I'm hoping their per sqft price includes the folded and stitched edges and grommets, if it does, I might get out the door for like $25..

otherwise, I will be doing exactly what you did.

Woa. so on the super serious. a 6'x4' piece of wind screen from this company stiched edges and brass (wish they were black) grommets is right around $20.

Pretty solid start down the right path. I have not ordered yet, I want to make sure 6' is the exact length I want, been busy this week. If it is, I will order and post pics like crazy so anyone else interested can make a reasonably educated decision.

now what would make ugly gold brass turn black.. hm

Just put a shopping cart together on their site, apparently (at least through the site) their only option is FedEx ground, to the tune of like $18.

I have emailed their sales department to see if there is another option. Will update when I get a response.
