Default Hitch Reciever

I want to install a Hitch Reciever.

Can some one please advise which is the strongest one out there. I have nothing to tow would only be using it as a recovery point with warn reciever shackle bracket.

There are quite a few MOPAR , Hidden Hitch Calss III, Draw Tite Class III

MOPAR is $199 at Quadratec
Hidden Hitch Class III is $99

Which one is better and stronger

From having just removed my Mopar receiver to install a Body Armor Swing-Away bumper I can tell you it is attached to the rear cross member with 4 bolts through that cross member. By DC it's rated at 350 lbs tongue weight/3500 lbs towing capacity.

The Quadratec (Hidden Hitch) is very similar to the factory one.

Strongest would be one with mount points on the frame rails and the cross member - typically a trip to the local "hitch" guy for fitment, purchase, installation...

Heck, if you figure out shipping costs for approx 15 lbs from Ocala, Florida (zip code 34476), and if you want to pay that I'll send you my 1 week old hitch.

You can PM me...

I read that the Curt Hitch for JK, 350# tongue weight- 3500# tow weight. $79.99. It's in the 4WheelDriveHardware Mag. You can also buy the wiring harness $39.99. This is my plan when I get the money. Both are very easy projects.

You prolly don't need but a class II hitch as if you went over that you'ld be sucking wind like a wounded pig and would maybe need to be towed yourself.

A JK is pretty lame in the power dept.
So stay with smaller loads and load right when you do tow.

What about buying a takeoff hitch from someone who buys an aftermarket bumper and can't use the stock one? Probably save some money. look in the for sale section here.

We got the Quadratech/hidden hitch one along with the wiring harness. i have compaired the 2 and the factory one is about 2.5-3" shorter. Our hidden one gets hung on stuff quite often off road but is holding up REALLY well even supports the rear of Ruby on rocks.

I had to install the Q/Hidden Hitch with extra length over the stock hitch due to having a 4" rise hitch to level out my off road trailer for towing without the ball hitting the bottom of the spare tire. I still had to lift the spare a bit which I did by installing the Bestop spare tire mount as high as it could go (setting is for 37" tires and I am using 33"s). Now I can open the gate with the ball mount attached.

I have a factory receiver and a 4-wire harness "left over".

I had an aftermarket hitch installed. It sticks out quite a bit - I really don't like the appearance, so when I get a rear bumper, it will probably have to go.
