Default Hi-Lift Storage

Purchasing a Hi-lift, I am looking for different options for storing it. I've seen some other forums about this but I was looking for some options (such as storing it in the "trunk" area). I'm not opposed to storing it next to my spare but I have a stock rear bumper and not sure that would be the best idea. I'm interested to see what other people do done to store theirs.

If you are going to carry it full time, which is likely just a huge waste IMO, then you might look at options that put it inside the cab and mounted to the rear rollbars or crossover. Keep it out of the elements.

Beachdude welcome to the forum ! Mopar sells a bracket that mounts the the spare tire carrier that a hi lift sits in standing up. Had one for a couple of years but the jack rattled so much ( i tried to cushion it and cinch down tight but nothing worked) that I moved it to my roof rack using a stud mount kit from Terra Flex. I know not everyone has a roof rack but that is where mine finally landed. Interesting if you can find a spot inside - that would be a new spot I have not seen yet. Hi lift is fairly heavy so any rack on the inside would have to be fairly substantial. I have seen racks for a hood mount but I am not a fan of this position, also have seen a mount for the drivers side in front of door similar to the mount on rear tire hanger but it also stands up the jack. Coolest way would be to install hydraulic jacks (trophy truck style) that lift the whole side of the vehicle HA!

I think the Dominion Offroad mount for inside is actually really nice. I have a hood mount and will use it for a big trip to Moab or similar but I don't carry it full time cuz it's such a seldom-used tool and I'd prefer to shed the weight and rattling on a daily basis. The hood mounts suck. Can't wash windshield with jack in place.

I just found this in one of the older forums which I am considering to look into: https://www.jk-forum.com/articles/in...ount-wrangler/

I just checked out the Dominion Offroad Mount, which looks good for the price and reviews.

Are there any things I need to consider when looking into storing the hi-lift?

The only thought I have is that these jacks work best when they are greased up. The picture you posted shows a boot over the jack. If mounting on the hood or inside ,I would consider a boot so you don't drop any grease inside or on your hood for that matter. Dried up grease mixed with road dust makes these jacks work inconsistently and as Resharp points out this tool is used very seldom, it would be a real bummer to pull it out and find the greased up section all dried out and covered in dust.

I looked an saw that the Dominion Offroad mount is for the 48in Hi-lift, I just got the 42 in Hi-lift. Are there similar options to this anywhere?

I think maybe the best thing is to just do a google image search for some rollbar mount and just see what you think looks good or is functional for your specific application. What is good for some is not good for others. For me, I would want something that does not limit any function in my cargo area at all. I would prefer keeping it in the cab, but I want to be able to fold down the seats and be able to use my cargo area to it's fullest extent without having to move a jack around for example. This is something that will not be used often so if you want to carry it full time, it should be "available", but also out of the way. "out of the way" can be different things for different people.

Seems like that would limit the functionality of folding the back seats down and wouldn't be a great long term solution.

I store my hi-lift in the garage when I go on trips . They are not totally useless but are close to it since the invention of tow ropes/other vehicles pulling and or winches. There is a storage system for across the hood hinges and seem to work well but your windshield washers will then clean the jack. But prcing for these is pretty reasonable.
