Default Hi-Lift install on the JK

got tired of looking at $1200 bumpers with tire racks and hi-lift mounts... so... I decided to go the fastest/cheapest route... bought some Hi-Lift 4XRAC mounts (the ones meant for TJ bumpers...) and drilled some holes in my tail gate and mounted it there...

seems solid enough, dented in the sheet metal a tad, but I don't really care about that as long as it holds up and is functional. I'll get better pictures up tomorrow in the day light.

Looks nice. Can't wait to see some pics of it from farther away in the daylight.

How's the clearance between the jack and the taillight when the tailgate is opened?

The bottom part of the Hi-Lift that that sticks out will touch rear corner panel under the tail light when the tail gate if fully open, I plan on putting some rubber on the tip of the jack so it doesn't scratch the body, but so far I can open it and rest it against the body and doesn't do any damage. I'll go take more pics now that the sun is up....

You drilled right into the sheetmetal! So do they clank alot when you walk?
haha

Are you worried about sheetmetal fatigue? I guess you can always slap on another layer of metal later, I guess.

I plan on putting a piece of metal on the inside to help reinforce it, but may need to add some to the outside later, but right now, I can pull and yank on it really hard and the sheet metal doesn't move.

here are some day light pics...

notice the dented part to the left of the mount, that is from using a c-clamp to test how I was going to mount them....

Looks good! I like it.

Hey, any chance you could take a few pictures of your antenna mount? I will be installing a ham radio and cb within the next month, but I haven't decided where to mount the antenna.

No rush, but if you happen to get the camera out again....
Thanks,
LW
