It's a Jeep. Look up Planman on here. He is running 40's on a 2 dr with 2.5" lift and 1" body lift. 37's look perfect on a 4 dr though. Come to think of it, so do 42's...

Most 2.5 in lifts will be budget boost... You get what you pay for... What's his budget? That will help us a lot with suggestions. You'll find the jeep lifts are a heck of a lot cheaper $$$ than hummer lifts... Maybe he can get a fully inclusive 3-3.5 inch lift...
What type of wheeling will he be doing? All though I'm not a fan.... Rough country has some very inexpensive all inclusive lifts starting around $400. W/ shocks. People who have them like them...
Keep reading..... You'll trade your hummer in!!!! Just kidding. Welcome to the forum!!!

welcome to the forum. Theres a bunch of haters around here about the hummers. I say to each their own.
As for the lift, go with a reputable brand.
I have been wheeling with many different vehicles so no hate here...

For what type of terrain he will be on, I am not sure yet. It all depends how hard the off road bug bites him. I started on fire roads and then caught the bug really bad, from then on I would wheel local trails during the week and venture out and go rockcrawling on the weekends. I am in all terrain, Rocks, mud, snow, dirt, sand etc. So I think he will be doing the same so a good all around lift that has good street manners and can do most of what he throws at it. Hopefully something tough hes just 17 and is a new driver so he will probably abuse it a bit.
For pricing something reasonable. Under a grand is definitely in budget for him. I think that is reasonable right? I mean for my H3 the lifts are limited and we pay the "hummer tax," over a grand for everything, That is one thing we wish we had your aftermarket support so under a grand would be nice if we can get something decent.
As for the haters, its all good. I get it all the time and am used to it, getting me in a JK though it wont happen. I love my H3 too much and its my first car and I dont ever plan on giving it up, I need it to get the whole hummer collection someday I see the plus and minuses to the hummers and I see the pluses and minuses to the jeeps, nothing can be perfect and unfortunately there will always be that hill we can't climb or that mudhole we can't cross but I think my build and my brothers build are making very offroad worthy rigs but keeping them tame enough to take a girl out. Its easy to make an offroad monster and its easy to make a caddy smooth ride but combining them and getting the best of both worlds can be a bit more challenging.
