Ha! No worries, these are all great questions. If you have them others do too.
There can be some drone to some, FYI. I hear the "roar" when I get on it. You mentioned a 5 year old, I have an almost 7 year old. He didn't mind the "rockcrawler" system on a 4 door. It may be loud.
if you guys are adding in their "rock crawler" muffler, you can either make the exhaust dump before the axle by just adding a turn down, or you can always add their tailpipe piece (55428) to have the exhaust exit through the rear.
What i did was chop off the stock muffler, add in the Dynomax muffler with some cutting of the factory tubing. Clamp in the new muffler and you're good to go. I will be adding the tail pipe section after xmas because there is a long box in the basement that has threats written on it if I open the box..

My concern with the child is just the fumes. I just done see how he won't be effected by that.

Whether gases get into the cabin or not, depends on outside airflow in relation to the Jeep, and on air turbulence under & around the Jeep.
Parking, or, for instance, moving slowly forwards with back wind at the same speed, are the same, gases may get in. There are more situation that allow gases to get in.
I didn't take a chance and had the exhaust end behind the axle.

I do believe that only under a certain set of conditions will and exhaust gasses enter the cabin because of the mid-center exhaust.
I'm pretty sure more exhaust gets sucked in if you ride around with the back window open.
