I hope to do a manual AEV 5.7vvt hemi some day. However AEV does not have any manual conversion at this time. I recommend just researching and holding out until they release a kit(if you plan to stick with AEV that is). They are supposed to release a 6.4 manual conversion kit soon(whatever soon means), which will be before the 5.7vvt manual kit. They have been saying the 5.7vvt manual kit was on the way for a couple years but have never released it. The best engine for an AEV kit would be a Grand Cherokee engine. You will need to source a manual trans separately.

5.7 VVT, but Id take a regular 5.7 over the 6.1, it just seems to be a better match for a jeep. The 6.1 is quite rev happy and feels weirdly smaller to drive. Id be willing to trade some HP for fuel economy but then Im more of the overlanding type, not much for rock crawling.

I did a 5.7 out of a Jeep Commander. 1500 miles on it shipped to my door for 2300.00 If I remember right. Don't regret it at all. Would probably do the vvt if I were doing it now.

i would actually prefer a diesel swap though i think.
Me as well but much more involved and you would never recoup the fuel savings , I wish some one would take the plunge and try to fit 3.0 out of the 2008 Cherokee in the jk , that Benz diesel is one he'll of a motor

If u have 20 grand laying around, like in your couch cushions, u can drop it off to aev and they will do it for u. I think they are located in detroit or close to it.

Doesn't the 6.1 require premium fuel?

I'd go 5.7vvt over the 6.1 but if you have deep pockets, go 6.4vvt....
