Default Help! What is this dripping?

Hey guys, on a road trip, and I'm 5 hours from home and my tools. Does this leak look bad?

It's my rear passenger wheel that's shown. I have a lot of driving ahead of me, and won't be home until Sunday evening. Think I'm ok to carry on? It smells like diff oil but i don't really know...?

Any ideas?

Apparently it's leaking more than I thought...

I don't see how diff oil would get all the way over there. Might be brake fluid? Check your brake line fittings.

I have not taking my axel apart, but a coworker this week had a leak in an old s10 blazer. Looked a lot like that. It was a seal in the differential fluid ran down the axel.

I cleaned it up as much as I can. I'm going to let it sit for a while and then try to see if I can't pin-point it?

I really have no idea though, thanks for responding!

I have a full day of driving tomorrow and then a 5 hour trip home Sunday.

I'd check diff level.

Did you do any maintenance in the rear before the trip?

Nothing smells like diff oil but diff oil. It stinks like no other. There is a seal for the axle behind all that brake stuff. That looks like a wheel seal leak.

Most likely your axle seal. If it were your brakes youd know by now.
I'd buy a couple qts of diff fluid and a wrench for the plug and keep checking it every hour along your trip.

I changed my diff oil about 4 months ago, and havent really been offroad since. Didn't do any maintenance before the trip, but I did a quick check of the undercarriage and didn't notice this.

If I had tools I could check it out a bit more... Might have to take it to a shop in the morning.. Yay...

Thanks guys!
