Default Help with Tires Rubbing Fenders---Any Ideas?

Need some help.

Went off road last Sunday and had some Fender Rubbing issues.

I did not think I was that articulated but maybe I was.

This was the first time I disconnected the front Sway bar.

My Set up is as follows:

33" Tires (No Spacers)
Teraflex Performance Spring Leveling Kit
Rubicon Shocks
Stock Sahara Fenders(did not chop yet)
JKS Quicker Disconnects

All other Suspension is Stock Sahara.

I have a set of Black Fenders I can Chop...but will this solve the situation?

Any Comments are appreciated.

I will post some pics later as well..

Thanks

Joe

UPDATE---added pics and Video---You can see and hear the rubbing at approx 18 seconds in.---Thanks again for any ideas

Is it a 4wd ? Tires look really close to the fenders for it to be a 4x4... Lift it more. Add adapters. Solved.

Sounds like you need to extend your bump stops, or trim your fenders.

You answered your own question. The disconnects let the axle move up and down further. Either chop the flares or add more bumpstop (or lift higher...)

I am fine with trimming the fenders---did not want a big lift ----is a higher lift my only solution? Will doing the fender chop make a big difference?

It is a 4x4 with the Teraflex spring leveling kit. Can you explain how the spacers will help?

Thank you.

When you disconnect, the axle is allowed to move up and down further, which in your case is causing the tires to rub on the fenders.

Your options are to:

Chop the flares or go to flats - which provides more space between the tire and the fender

Add more bumpstop - which stops the axle from moving up as far - which prevents the tire from contacting the fender

Add more lift (spacer or coil) - which provides more space between the tire and the fender

--Wheel adapters/spacers will move the tires further out, which will help if they are rubbing internally. But won't help with rubbing the flares...

First determine where the tires are rubbing. If its your flares then more suspension or a body lift will solve it or more bumpstop. If your rubbing a control arm or maybe the edge of you front bumper then you need some wheel spacers. What backspacing do your rims have and whats the width of the tire ?

I have a Sahara with 33's. I was running the Teraflex leveling kit...when I disconnected I rubbed the fenders as well. I replaced the leveling kit with a 3.5" lift and no more rubbing.

Then a tree jumped out in front of me and bent the metal bracket for my fender....the rubbing came back.....took them off and put on bushwacker flats.

You can either get larger bump stops but that will limit your travel. Depending on the wheeling you do....you might just want to lift it which will also increase your wheel travel.

Is the pic in your album with the leveling kit?
