Default Help with tires

M finally in the market for some 33s. It mostly on road driving so I'd like ATs. I won't them on the stock rims. Size 285 70 r17. So my question is, some brands come in a heavier ply LT and in less ply P. What's best on a 4 door rubicon? Thanks

I've been running the Hankook Dynapro MT in a 295/75R16 load range D for awhile now and really like them. Basically a 33x11.5 tire

Excellent mud and snow traction, you can't hear them at all on pavement. Very quiet for an MT.
They do seem to prefer sub 30 psi. at 28 I get a flat even line wear across the entire tread. (search chalk test)
Much quieter and smoother ride than the BFG KM2's I was running before. I hear good things about the Goodyear Duratrac as well.

If you are looking for a daily driver tire you want it on the lighter side and a D tire for an all terrain. A lower Ply is going to lighten the tire also keeping the MPGs decent. Personly would go with Goodyear or BFGoods. Take a look a Fierce Attitudes they are an MT tire but nice and light for daily use and rugged enough to wheel with and are a goodyear by product.

Thank guys
I've had my eyes set on the falken wild peaks ats, nitto terra grapplers, toyo ats. I would like to not hinder the mpg much. I have 4.10s and auto so I hope it might drop the rpms slightly for the few times I go 65. The fastest I can go in my area is 55.

Throw the Cooper Discoverer AT3's on your list.

I love them. Mine are the P285/70/17's and have a great deep-open tread pattern. They are almost silent running down the road.

They have great wet traction too. This size weighs only 45lbs per tire and has a 55,000 mile tread wear warranty.

The LT version in the same size weighs 5 or 6 lbs more per tire. Some LT's in that same size weigh close to 60 lbs ea.

Stock wheels with 2 in. lift and 1.5 in SpiderTrax wheel spacers.

Will the P (vs LT) be dramatically weaker or not really. I've seen non LTs go flat on gravel roads. And I don't want wheels spacers.

I agree with the Cooper AT3's Put a set on the wifes' JKU about 2 years ago, and couldn't be any more satisfied. They are great on the highway, and in the rain. Couldn't believe how well they gripped in the recent snow we had here in Lancaster Pa. With that said, I put a set of WildPeaks on my F150 4X4 supercab, and they are good tires, however I like the Coopers better.
Can't understand why Cooper AT3' and the ST's are such an overlooked tire. Good looking tread design that works well in the rain, snow and highway. Quiet on the highway at both low and high speeds. Easy to balance, and after 2 years looks like the wifes has had little or no wear. Great price and a 55K warranty.
