Default HELP WITH TIRE QUESTION, can I run 35's on my OEM 17in rim?

I've read dozen of threads on here about folks doing this with 315/70/17 but they don't measure a true 35in. The tire Im looking at is the toyo open contry MT 35/12.5/17 and it almost measures a true 35 at 34.9in. Im going to be installing a rock krawler 2.5 max flex system and smittybilt flat flares. I know I'll need spacers I just want to know if its save to mount a tire that wide on 7.5 wide oem wheel. All the specs say 8, 8.5, 10 in wide wheels should be used. I like the factory wheels and would perfer not to spend more money on wheels than necassary. I would pefer folks that have experince with this for input. Thanks in advance

Plenty of guys run that set-up, you will just need spacers. Here's the link to the show off thread.

I'd been running that with Duratracs for approx. 6 months without any spacers. There was some minor rubbing on rear lower control arms but only during offroad wheeling (my syspension is long arm Teraflex). On road there was like 1/2" gap and no rubbing at all.

Definitely use spacers. I run 35x12.50's on the stock wheels and they are fine. The most important thing is to make sure to adjust the air pressure, so that the tire has a flat contact patch with the road. Do a chalk test

Thanks for the input guys. I think I might just do that then. What's a good brand for spacers? Anything special to look for?

Run a strip of chalk across the width of the tire and drive it. You basically want no chalk visible after driving. If there is still chalk on the edge of the tires, lower the pressure. Chalk in middle of tire, raise the pressure
