Teraflex says 160 ft lbs with a new nut in their driveshaft installation instructions.
I say 165 ft lbs with the original nut (assuming it looks great) and a drop of red loctite.
It won't come off, and from what it looks like, you can't hurt anything with careful use of a proper torque wrench.

Now that I think of it..it does make sense that by re-installing the nut to lets say 160 ft/lbs should bring everything back inline with where it was prior to removal...being that preload was already set with the sleeve crushed to it's present state, to just torque things back down should snug things right back to where they were. It does make sense...cause unless you apply 250+ ft/lbs your not going to crush that sleeve at all.....yeah, your good man...toss some locktite on the nut and enjoy.

Default Loctite for Transfer Case Yokes?

Hi Again,

I see the specs for the transfer case yokes' torque is lower than the pinion nuts.

I am considering blue Loctite for the transfer case nuts.

Any reason to use red Loctite? Or no threadlocker at all?

Thanks

Jeff

Teraflex says 90 to 130 ft lbs for the transfer case yoke nuts.
I'd go closer to 130 than 90 with a single drop of red.

For some reason the higher torque value may be associated with less seal failure/leakage.

Either way, at 120 ft lbs with red loctite it won't come off unless there is some other serious failure of the drivetrain.

1 1/4, 1 1/8, and 1 5/16 are the sockets needed. Front diff, transfer case, and rear diff all have different sizes. Did mine last week. PITA tracking down the 1 5/16.
