Default help with oil leak.

2010 Sahara with 42000. Has never lost oil before. Some on garage floor so it has been a couple of days. Had it in on Saturday for the skid plate recall. Any suggestions were it is coming from?

The passenger side shock is socked. Down very little oil. Maybe a 1/4 quart. Did my own oil change about three weeks ago.

Yes. Nitrogen charged shocks do have oil in them too and those are leaking.

Thanks, that makes sence from were all the oil is at. I did not think they had oil though. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my shocks are to big for my lift. Quadratec sent me the wrong ones. I have a 1.75" lift and the shocks r for 3 to 4" lift. They did say if I ever had problems they would take care of them.

Default leak

Just run your hand on the bottom of you shock , and if you have oil on your hand thats it! Then call where you got the shocks asap , and get it taken care of. many times the sales person says (we'll take care of you) , and doesn't have a clue . Better call them

The shock has oil all over it. Just can't believe these shocks hold that much oil.

No "smart ass" taken.

I would say your upper seal, covered by the boot, has failed.

Had one of my Old Man Emu shocks upper seal fail at 23k/22months of use. They have a 2yr/24k warranty, called OME, they said send a pic and they would/did send a free replacement.

I think your Teraflex has a Limited lifetime warranty.

Thanks for your help. One more question for you of you don't mind. How long did you go with the bad shock? Wondering if I need to replace mine with one of the original one until I get a replacement? Again thanks.
