Default Help needed -- MBRP Catback install.

I have everything in place, but I can't seem to tighten the clamps enough for the joining pipes not to slide back and forth on each other. Am I doing something wrong? I can't imagine that it is supposed to do that. I have the clamps toward the middle of the adjoining pipes. Am I supposed to have it at the very end of the overlaying pipe?

Any suggestions?

You would want the clamp right where the two pipes overlap.

At the very end of the overlapping pipe?

Maybe a 1/4" from the end.

I used an impact gun when I did my install. Don't worry the pipes will rust together soon enough.

X2 on the impact gun. I tightened all of mine by hand and thought that they were as tight as they could get but they ended up coming loose and causing a rattle, impact gun solved that real quick.

If you are having a hard time getting the system to tighten up, an impact gun does make things easier but is not really necessary. We find that the band clamps work best when they're right near the edge of the expanded pipe, and the bolt side of the clamp is sitting right on top of one of the slots.

If you are installing an aluminized system with saddle clamps, the clamp should be right about the middle of the expansion, and you've got crank down on it pretty good.

Condensation leaking for the system is completely normal for a bolt on system, and usually seals itself up after a few thousand miles. A little carbon build up and it should stop dripping. If you are concerned about a small leak like this, we do not recommend welding the system but a little bit of high temp silicone usually does the trick.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Had the same problem, I used regular exhaust clamps and that solved the issue for us. My understanding is the band clamps (although better looking in appearance) dont crimp down as well as regular exhaust clamps.
