Default Help with my "new" Dana 30

Can anyone tell me if this looks like a Dana 30 off of a 2008 Jeep JK Unlimted X with only 5000 miles. Thats what I paid $3000 for to my local repair guy but this seems like it might be a little older and not slightly used. Now the ABS light is on, the traction control, BAS and screwed up steering wheel. He told me I needed to go to Sears to get an alignment to fix the lights. Did I get my money's worth? Is there a way to tell if it even can off of a jeep?

Also, please let me know of any trustworthy mechanics in the Fayetteville, Arkansas area. I feel like I need one after this

3k for a dana 30?? did you trash your previous front end? that sounds crazy for a D30. As for the lights, sounds like they trashed the ABS sensors taking off your front axle and he should of replaced them. I wouldnt deal with that mechanic again.

Yep, that right, I trusted the guy because he did a fairly priced lift for me a couple of years ago but this is why I am looking for a new mechanic. Also, the $3000 does include the install.

I did also call another mechanic in the area after being told here that I was being ripped off and he said he found one but it had 40K miles on it and it would cost $2200 + $400 labor to install so I didn't think it was being overcharged for a D30 with only 5k miles. Where are you guys finding all these complete D30 assemblies for $450 to $1000?

One of the members on here gave me his D-30, stock with 3.73's ,axle shafts, 5000m on it. You should kick him in the face, he robbed you.

The front end wasn't trashed at all. My kid had the jeep during a snowstorm a couple of months ago and he said 4wd wouldn't work and he was right, it didn't. The mechanic told me it blew a gear and a hole was in the diff and all the fluid was gone. His only other option than a complete replacement was to disconnect the front axle.

I take it the jeep wasnt under warranty, like MK said people give away there front D30s or can be had for 3-500$ full assemblies. The install of the front axle doesnt cost what he charged you, maybe try reasoning with him? sorry to hear this.

You know you've been had when you miss the dealer. Thats where its going next for all the dash lights. Here comes another $3K bill.
