Help with my "new" Dana 30
Can anyone tell me if this looks like a Dana 30 off of a 2008 Jeep JK Unlimted X with only 5000 miles. Thats what I paid $3000 for to my local repair guy but this seems like it might be a little older and not slightly used. Now the ABS light is on, the traction control, BAS and screwed up steering wheel. He told me I needed to go to Sears to get an alignment to fix the lights. Did I get my money's worth? Is there a way to tell if it even can off of a jeep?
Also, please let me know of any trustworthy mechanics in the Fayetteville, Arkansas area. I feel like I need one after this

I did also call another mechanic in the area after being told here that I was being ripped off and he said he found one but it had 40K miles on it and it would cost $2200 + $400 labor to install so I didn't think it was being overcharged for a D30 with only 5k miles. Where are you guys finding all these complete D30 assemblies for $450 to $1000?

The front end wasn't trashed at all. My kid had the jeep during a snowstorm a couple of months ago and he said 4wd wouldn't work and he was right, it didn't. The mechanic told me it blew a gear and a hole was in the diff and all the fluid was gone. His only other option than a complete replacement was to disconnect the front axle.
