Can you roll it? It should be rolling to switch the transfer case between 2h and 4h... Not stopped

Well I'll ask because everybody else will, why buy something if already not working? Fortunately probably an easy fix. Most likely the transfer case Linkage just popped off it is a common problem. There is a little plastic ball joint that needs replacing most likely

I'll ask why this is an emergency. Are you stuck on a set of railroad tracks and the gates just came down because a train is coming and you can't move?

Describe the 4wd lever some more... It's "loose"? Is it in 4hi or N or 4 lo

Wow. So nobody has been real helpful yet.

Ok. I don't have photos right now and I'm on my mobile. So you are going to have to do some research yourself. But if your 4wd lever is moving but just floppy and not connected it can be an easy fix. That linkage is attached in two places. One is under the emergency brake center console. Pain to get to. The other is under the Jeep. Easy to get to. Have someone move the lever while you are under the Jeep and you will be able to see if the plastic piece has broken and the linkage is now free from the transfer case. This will make sense once you see it or do some googling. Mine failed on the trail. I was able to zip tie the linkage back on to the transfer case. And it worked great the whole weekend.

The actual plastic piece is $2.50. Of course I just told you that you can zip tie it in the meantime. This piece has been known to fail. Search the forum I am sure there is a write up. I know there are videos on YouTube.

Good luck. Get it fixed
