They look nice but how do they help with an oversized tire? These still use the stock carrier right? Although the (early production)Teraflex tire mount has taken some criticism, the hinge is great.

This does re-use the stock carrier but a second piece is close to available that would shift the load to new bracket then transfer it through the hinges to the body.
I will say that the door closes better with the new hinges which leads me to believe that the load is partially moved to the hinges. There is some serious adjustment required to get the gate to close correctly after putting the tire on there. I did get a better close than I ever had from the factory.
As well as the OP, I'm open to questions on it. I bought it as a replacement/ "budget friendly upgrade" after 120k miles on the original hinges. They were making a groaning noise whenever I'd open the gate with the tire on.

The teraflex hinge didn't have any problems. They had a handful of tire carriers crack a weld though, and they fixed the issue. I have the TF hinge and carrier and it's been solid for 35000 miles.

At the cost of outsourcing materials finishing and assembly, costs 700 dollars to the consumer. Oh and "research and development".
If I spent 700 and it cracked, screw fixing it, I want my money back. That's probably just me. They have addressed this many times on forums, which is indicative of their service, always amazing. Thought about getting one too, but for 150 dollars less I got a steel carrier that only weighs 20 pounds more and does all the same things.
Main reason I didn't go TF is everyone has one. Looking back it would have been easier to get one. Still have TF trackbars, springs, and high steer though. Not just a TF hater, if anything on my rig fails I'll cry about it. See a lot of that on these here forums.
