Default Heater Core Leaks!!!

Hello All,

I'm new to forums, as in I've never posted one before, and need some help. I'm sure there are other "heater core" questions and posts but I just needed some quick advice... I have redish antifreeze leaking on the passenger side floor boards, a slight overheating issue and very low coolant levels. I was recently quoted 1,100 to replace the heater core, refill coolant (HOAT) and inspect the evap etc., is this high, low or on par in regards to cost?
Thanks,

landmancrj

Not sure on what the price would be, but I'll tell you that you have to pull the entire dash out of the jeep in order to replace the heater core. The heater core is attached to the backside of the dash. To do this, the steering column has to come out along with the shifter console as well as the battery and battery tray. That's a bunch of time/money.

I recently replaced my heater core and I'd pay $1100 happily to not do it again.
I had a friend with a shop look up the all data for me and it says 8 hours of labor time.
typical mechanic around here is about $160/hr so that's $1280 without parts or tax.

Make SURE you check ALL of your controls when you get it back BEFORE leaving the shop. This is an opportunity for lots of gremlins to be introduced.

Will do, I'm nervous that taking out the dash is going to cause issues elsewhere.
