So far this is what I expected. I understand that the D30 wont potentially hold up long for extreme off road, but for most peoples needs I would say with a little love it will last a long time. Keep the results coming!

Just broke mine yesterday
Front axel stopped engaging in the middle of a 4 foot deep mud pit. HAd to winch myself out. Afterwards a click sound when the tires turn, even on 2 high. The front ds is good, but rotates freely without engaging the axle. Now at the shop, I guess I tore apart the gears. 3.73 gears with Aussie lockers, Crohmoly shatfs. But, I knew something was wrong beforehand, as the DS had a little play where it entered the carrier. Apart from that, no problems on extreme wheeling.

Seems the sweet spot for the D30 is:
4:88 max - nice R&P mesh (5:13 is hairy)
Chromo Shafts with Quality U Joints
Gusset & Sleeve
No Locker - due to R&P size
& Obviously Diff Cover
I'm planning on upping to 37's in the near future and would love to keep beating the snot out of my D30. Above is my plan, based on the trial and error from others.

Young and dumb. What was I thinking. Jumped, with sway bars off. Tacoed the left spring perch, short tube, blew the seals and still had to drive it 100 miles.

I think the bigger question than the setup, is how people wheel.
I see guys who crawl everything, are very smooth, never hop... and then I see guys with high gears, no lockers, no low t case who bounce their way up things.
Being set up for "success" imo helps you keep from wheeling poorly, and if you can drive smoothly you'll reduce the odds SO dramatically of breaking things.
Some folks also just enjoy bouncing up things too I suppose... and that's what I'd want to know.
btw, if you break something doing a 35' jump in a JK that doesn't count!!! (but it's pretty fun to watch all the same though!! )
