Default Has anyone removed the door handles from their jeep?

I don't know about everyone else, but the first time I saw those doors handles and all the other plastic on the new JK's I was kind of bummed. I mean, the old tj handles weren't great looking either, but they weren't so damned blatantly fugly either.

i've looked around and found that their are aftermaket handles but they are all the same, just with different materials and slightly altered design ques.

so I was wondering, has anyone installed a door opening actuator and jut removed the handles entirely? it's done on low riders frequently enough, the market is large enough, with some know how you could get a generic kit and apply it to the JK.

here's an example
borrowed a pic from sgt.evil for this little bit of photo editing.

what do you guys think, and has anyone done this yet?

full kits are typically less than 200, and thats for 4 doors.

to do your research you'll have to google shaved door handles and/or door poppers

I think I would just get some replacement handles vice remove them entirely.

Just my 2 cents

seems to me price would be about the same, if you can do body work and paint yourself. you'd still rather just replace the door handles?

and I hadn't thought until after I posted about how impractical it would be for passengers, :(

looks quite fugly without any handles IMO but if you really wanted to do it, I saw on Overhaulin they had a touch sensitive system for the door to open, no handles

I'd rather just take off the doors.

Most systems have some sort of failsafe to let you in if the electronics fail...not sure how 'thief friendly' it is though. But my Pops had a '52 Chevy with shaved handles and they had a manual trigger underneath the door...not sure how it worked though...

I just think this is a pointless mod - theres no utility in it.

Unless it provides some utility, what is the point? Same with lambo doors - no utility.

Damn near all my mods have provided something - even the shorty antenna prevents whipping of the antenna by branches, but no door handles doesn't do anything but inconvenience me.

If removing the door handles gained me some clearance or prevented something from snagging or ....you get the picture..
