I run topless as often as I can, but I do not think I would buy a rack that only fit topless. Maybe something that would fit with a top, or topless. But if I had to choose one way or the other I would go with a rack that I could run with a top on so I could use it year around.

Just to clarify....... this cargo basket is the exact one we run our our 4 door hard top roof rack. So for those who run a hard top in the winter and go topless in the summer you would be able to run this cargo basket with both hard top and topless set ups.

Steve is basically trying to see if there was enough interest from forum members to run a basket like this when topless, if so we will go ahead and make up the necessary brackets .

Hey thanks to everyone who has taken the time to participate in the poll.

I would not buy a rack unless I could use it with my softop on, as well as off.

We are trying to use an existing part number (our basket) and adding a few simple brackets to make it a year round rack. If we were building a basket just to run with no top, it might not be cost effective, but by using our existing design, and adding a few low cost brackets. This would allow you to potentially run your hard top with our rack and basket in the winter, and then run just the basket in the summer when you're topless.

I would love to see something that works with a bikini top.

It's too hot and humid to run around without some type of shade, plus the bikini top is nice to have at least a little protection from the rain when the summer thunderstorms pop up. I suppose if there were brackets to install it without a top a bikini top could be cut or modified to work with it. Would be worth a try.

From the picture take offf about 8" or so....
I totally hear what you are saying. We have literally just set the basket on the roll bars for these pictures but a few thoughts come to mind when you mention the basket location.

We do not want the basket hanging over the driver or passenger area to eliminate the risk of cargo coming down on you in an emergency situation. And secondly we are trying to minimize the final price of the basket by using our existing design and dimensions.

Post a few pictures of your JK with the bakini top and we'll take a look at what options we may have.

Thanks,

Steve
