Default hanson tire carrier

hi just wondering if anyone had the Hanson tire carrier ?

http://www.hansonoffroad.com/product...roducts_id=177

just wondering if would handle a 37" tire.. it says 35 " anyone have experience with this carrier .. I'm looking for a carrier to go with my shrockworks stubby... i want the offroad evo one.. but who knows when that will be out.. figured maybe one of these would get me by while i wait .

maybe the Hanson one or the or_fab one would work. anyone have any other ideas ? thanks

I have had the Hanson tire carier for a year. It is very strong and well made. I ran it on the Rubicon Trail with a 37 inch spare tire without any problems.
The installation was straight forward, I was careful to cut the plastic hindge covers so that the Hanson brackets fit through the covers. I located the rear stop light so that it is visable through one of the wheel openings.

great thanks for the info.. i guess the Hanson carrier attachés to the hinges to take the weight off the tail gate ? looks great !

I guess the original problem with carring the spare on the tail gate is not the hinges then. I thought the spare was too much weight on the hinges but I guess what they are saying is ti torques the sheetmetal on the gate causing body damage. Not sure.

What kind of damage is being done to oiur tail gate wtih bigger tires exactly? I hear about it all the time but have not read anything specific.

I like the look of this tire carrier and looks much easier to install than the OR fab one.

Hanson does make the spindle/Bumper mount tire carrier as well, and it will hold up to a 37 tire it is listed first on the bumper tire carrier section. Hanson makes quality bumpers and they are in the mix for my consideration for bumpers.

I like the look of the Hanson one, but my concern with it, is that it doesn't swing where the or-fab one does. I don't like the sound when I accidentally let go of the stock tail-gate/tire on an incline, so with the added weight I'd think it would be worse.

Just my thoughts on why I'd choose the other one.

bump for more info...

Anyone else have first hand experience with the Hanson carrier?

Maybe the Hanson rep can chime in with info on the design?

Curious how the spreading of the weight to the hinges will effect them long term...

Is there a warranty if you do have hinge issues?
