The C's and axle tube diameter are the same for the X, Sahara, and Rubicon. The C's are prone to bending with larger tires and gussets are cheap insurance and a worthwhile investment. I wouldn't bother with the axle sleeves unless I was removing the differential at the same time. Both the C gussets and axle sleeves can be installed with the axle on the Jeep.

Do yourself a favour and take the axle out of the jeep. This was the easiest part of the sleeve/gusset install by far. If you go with teraflex tubes, make sure they slide in reasonably well before applying the big hammer. If you have to, sand the outside diameter until the tube will slide in (I wish I did). I also removed the carrier to make clean-up easier.

I also went with the evo gussets. I like the design and the fact that they are 3/16". You have to run more bead but it's way less amperage (heat) than welding the thicker TF gusset. I also like the fact that a lower gusset is included. Very beefy indeed. Like everyone else says, weld an inch at a time and keep the wet rags on the ball joints.

Sure why not, it's cheap and offers extra security to prevent something from breaking or bending.

Man, I thought the "C's" on the Dana 44 were a little stronger than on the Dana 30.
So the shafts are just bigger with more splines?? How many splines on the 30? And on the 44?
Thanks, learn something new every day

I have a 4dr runnin 37's, got hit from from between the 2drs to the rear. Spun me 180 degees. Bent both my front C's and they have evo gussets on them Have to run 1degree ofset balljoints now, at least they're greasable
The stock axle housings are crap, reinforced C's couldn't take the impact of being spun 180, granted I do have havy ass 37's. Saving for 60's.

While you are doing research, you can look at exterior sleeves. there are a few different designs out there and I'm going with one of them
