Any short arm kit can be converted to a long arm upgrade. I have an AEV 4.5 and could get a PolyPerformance/Synergy or Rock Krawler or whatever upgrade kit. All they are are long arms and brackets for new attachment points. Some are weld on others are bolt on.

Drop brackets do hang down lower at the frame and will be more likely to hang up on stuff but will give you a great ride. While a long arm has the potential for more travel in the system you will likely have other components that will limit namely the shocks and the driveshafts which can only handle so much droop before the u-joints will bind up.

I have the AEV 4.5 and love it as the guy said earlier I can always upgrade. But for now I am happy and have yet to hit a trail where I ran into major problems. Also look at metal cloak and I am all for RK. My buddy runs there 3.5 and I like it. Also my jeep is my dd and the hoghway performance is great!

Don-T -- what's the total amount of lift gained with that combo? 2 door or 4 door? The 10AE is already .75" higher than stock, so 1" pucks and flat fenders will make room for 35s, but I'm concerned about retaining proper geometry with that setup. As for off-roading, I'm not new, but not very experienced, either, and I've already learned that the JKUR scrapes more than I think I should on stuff that I think it shouldn't. 3 or 4 additional inches would make a noticeable difference.

If I understand Dirtman's writeup, the geometry brackets don't have as much clearance as replacement control arms, correct? Also, wouldn't longer control arms inherently have more travel capability because they travel over a larger arc?
I gained about 1.5" is about all. The stiffer springs don't bottom out as quickly as the original springs. I have the 2 door. Suspension and steering geometry aren't a problem with this setup. With good skid plates when you do contact something, the jeep will usually slide over it. The flat fenders give me enough room for the 315 tires.

RK's coils are not 2 door/4 door specific. Height is going to be based on weight. My 2 door is 3.5" with Rk 2.5's.
loaded 4 door I would be looking at the 3.5's

Even if I don't go long-arm now, I feel comfortable that I've got enough info to make a good decision now. Thanks to all for the fantastic feedback!
