Good luck with your decision. Buy a lottery ticket and cross your fingers for the $$. I do but it doesn't work.....

I have mtr's and like them. Great off road. On road they r quiet but don't balance well. I don't like the way duratracs look. They just look like an all terrain to me. Can't beat mtr's fore sidewall strength in radial. That's why I bought them. I am hard on tires yet no problems with them

That's a good thing..... I started the thread.... MOD ADDICT..... I've had my JKU 2 yrs now and spent well over
$10 000 in mods... I currently run 35" Mickey Thompson MTZ's for summer and last month I purchased 35" Duratracs put them on black Rock Crawler rims sitting in our garage!! I've read so many good things about them PLUS they're snow flake rated tires and I'm in Canada so that was important to me with all our snow. Don't stop saving and when you get your JK be sure to post on the Mod Addict thread too!!!

LOL, that's because they are.

On a serious note, I have run both of these tires and am currently runing the MTR/Ks. The Duratracs are an awsome AT. They took me thru all types of wheeling from sand to mud, and forest trails to rocks. They wear great and are quiet on the road. They got me thru the worst winter storm that Chicago has had in decades with ease. It was a real tough decision moving away from them when I went to 35s.

The MTR/Ks have been great so far. They are noisier on the road and not quite as planted in the rain. Offroad, they are quite a bit grippier in about every situation I have had them in. I will have to see how they are in the snow, but I am keeping the Duratracs in the garage and may change them out in the winter.

In the end, it depends on what you want to do. They are both top performers in their classes. For me, I wanted to try a great MT for once in my life. When these are worn out, who knows.

I hope this was helpful.

I run the duratracs and they are the best all around tire I have ever used. They ROCK in the snow. I didn't use my 4x4 at all last winter.

I get 20mpg with mt 33's, 3.21s, and 6 speed along with a superchips 87 tune.

That's the only reasons I would go with 33's over the 35's. Better mpg, no regear= more money in my pocket. But on the other hand, 35's look sooooo good! I'm confused what to do!
