I siped the center lugs and it made a world of difference on my BFG 255/85R16 km tires.

Wet traction was far better. Snow/slush felt equal to my prior set of Michelin LTX A/T 265/75R16.

Siping the KM2's makes a world of difference, still, it's a mud tire made for punishment and won't out perform an A/T or a tire designed for the elements due to their softer compound; I recommend getting the KM2's siped if your rig is your DD.

Maybe I'll head up to the high country today and do a "test". My MTR/K's have about 12k on them, so they're getting a little worn.

I'm running the MTR's and this is going to be the first winter with them. I have no clue how they will be in the snow/ice but I'm not too worried. We had a rather wet summer and I drove with them on many flooded roads. They performed better than I thought they would in rain. The only down side was when I hit a puddle in the road they pull hard into the puddle. I can't hold that aganst them since that has more to do with the tire size than the tread. So far I have no gripes about the MTR and I'm glad I got em.

I vote MTR w\Kevlar I have owned many tires in the past ans I never liked Goodyear's of any kind till these MTR's came out. They are amazing! They are much quieter than the stock KM's on the road and 100x better in the snow and ice. This is the first set of tires that I have ever owned that I will buy a second set of them when the time comes.

Having run all three tires over the years -KM1s on trucks and big SUVs (and KOs for that matter), the KM2 and MTR on my JK- and having PLENTY of experience in snowy conditions, I'll say the Goodyear is the superior all around tire.

The MTR is as good in the rocks as anything in the BFG line; they're better in the snow; they're better on rain-slicked roads; they're quieter and seem to last longer too.

After a few trips to the mountains for snowmobiling and skiing, I can say with 100% certainty that the MTR/K with 12k miles isn't a good snow tire at all. My stock Rubi tires were far superior in snow and even that isn't saying much. I might throw a set of good ATs on my stock wheels just for winter, since I hate wearing away my good tires (MTR/K's) and sliding all over the place like a Florida driver who's never seen snow.

Living in Arizona can't say about snow or ice,but the first time off-road with my Son who has the BFG put a hole in his side wall. So if you play in the rocks the Goodyear may be something to consider.
