Goodyear Duratrac or BFG AT KO?? help me choose
#22
I was dead set on Duratracs. Only problem is, noone has them in 315/70R17 right now. I want to get my Jeep squared away before I start a new job on Wednesday, so I'm going with BFG's. I'm sure they'll be good, serviceable tires, but I really wanted Duratracs. Sorry Goodyear...work out that supply-chain issue and maybe we'll hookup in about 40k miles or so.

Hi Guys! Noob at tires here. Was doing my research for my JK and chose the Duratrac. I have a stock setup with the stock Moab rims. I bought 265/70R17. Would I have been able to run the 315s stock? The guy at the tire joint was trying to talk me out of the 265 because they didn't match his computer. I would've loved bigger tires but I was afraid of rubbing as this is my DD. Did I make the right choice? BTW.. 2 week wait as Goodyear is out and needs to manufacture more. TIA!

I've done a disgusting amount of research on the DuraTrac. I've never been a fan of GoodYear until this monster came along. I really think it's the best tire out there. I'm in Illinois, so I'll be in snow, ice, and mud as often as I'll be on pavement. I'm ordering 33X12.5's tomorrow or the next day (depending on how quickly the bank gets back to me)
My vote is 100% DuraTrac.

Even if they are 2-ply, 1/4" 2-ply is the same as 1/4" 3-ply.
Obviously I dont know the thickness exactly, just made up a # for argument sake.
I'd go BFG due to brand loyalty or make my decision on price point.
Ford v. Chevy type of argument is what it boils down to in my opinion.
As for "self cleaning".....my stock BFGs cake up, so I assume thise that tout the duratrac as "cleaning well" only run in mud puddles or watery mud with hard bottoms. Get into our red clay and caliche and you dont clean ANYTHING unless u have a V-8 and willing to mash the skinny pedal.
I vote for you going with:
1) Price
2) Availability
3) what you think looks "cool"
