Default going with 35's on my rubicon, are 4:10's good enough

I saw a chart somewhere showing how the pentastar motor requires different gears than most of us have used when going with 35's. For example, on the 3.8 liter the common gear is 4:88. I get how the 3.6 changes things but im surprised to see how 4:10's are listed as the low end of optimal. Does anyone here have experience with the rubicon on 35s while keeping the 4:10's. Will my jeep be a pig, will going with 4:5?'s make a world of difference?

With a 2012 you will be fine, that's what I have and it is real good. A 2011 or older won't work nearly as good.

I have a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited with 35s and 4.10, and it's fine. Just make sure to get the AEV ProCal. It was pretty bad without it.

Where you live and the type if driving you do is the biggest factor.

I have an 09 4 door rubi on 35's and its ok here in the Colorado mountains. It hunts for gears on the highway but everything is either uphill or downhill here.

The crawl ratio is alright in 4 low but I find myself wanting lower gears.

Due to the grades in my area I will eventually re gear. If I lived at a lower elevation in an area that had less mountains, I might be happy.

Like I said, where you live and how you use your jeep are the major factors to consider.

Good luck with your decision!

Yes. Perfect in fact (unless you have a lot of hills or tow a lot):

WOw! THanks for the chart. Im saving this. I see here that 4.56's are also in the green zone. I have the 6 speed. If I later went with the 4.56's what would I notice differently? PS - I dont have a lot of hills by me but I do plan on finding some when I take delivery of the jeep!!!
