Took my back seat out about 2 weeks after I paid $200 for the seatcover for it haha. Its about is easy to get to as the back seat in my dads mustang. The good news is, when someone does need to ride in the back, they just get in through the tailgate and sit on the tub. Maybe not as comfy, but much easier. Only time it goes back in is on a road trip where I have rear passengers. Although a buddy of mine was in the back with no seat on a 7 hour drive and he loved it haha. We made it a little more comfortable with our bags and the cooler as a back rest.
Like somone said earlier, summer, top down, step over the back, top up, back seat closed haha.

I hate how you have to push your seat up and then once someone settles in the back, you got to "recalibrate" your seat.
I tried to fit my 6' 200lb frame into the back seat at the dealership and fell back flat on my ass. Chucked the rear seat into my basement. Total miles I drove with the backseat inside the Jeep...3 miles. Feels nice to have a "truck".

I thought that was a selling point for the 2 door. Now my kids do not ride in the jeep if they have to sit in the back. The jeep is a lot cleaner than my wifes car!

I tried to look at my seat yesterday with no real progress. Unbolted it from the floor, removed the seat track and stuff. It looks like there is only about 1" of extra forward movement that can be had before hitting the dash. Only way i can see doing that is to get some flat 3/16" by 1" wide flat stock and redrill the holes that the seat bolts to the seat bases on forward 1". That will make the slide back feature of the seat go 1" less, but the seat will go 1" more forward when slid forward....Thats about all i can come up with!

I solved my issue of rear seat access on my 2 door jk after about 8 months of ownership by taking it back to the dealership and trading it in for a 4 door!!!! Now its a breeze to get in and out of the back seat, and it is more stable in the winter. The only negative was turning radius and breakover angle off road!

I wouldn't expect any help from Jeep on the issue. When I was looking for a Jeep and asked about the seat not flipping up the salesman said they changed the seat mounts in the JK to comply with NTSB complaints about the seat mounts breaking during a front end collision in the TJ's. It was one of the reasons we decided to go with a 4dr.

My family solved this issue. Leave the top off, kids hop on the rear tires and jump in over the fender! Of course they are 8 & 9 years old and under 70lbs! Buying a 4 door after wifes suv is paid off!
